Sophie Buur is an experienced security professional in the humanitarian sector. She has background with security and crisis management for INGOs, and in coordination of in-house Hostile Environment Awareness Trainings (HEAT). She has also managed a company that specialized in developing and delivering security training for humanitarians for 2 years. Sophie has experience delivering security trainings in the Middle East and, since the start of the war in Ukraine, has been developing and delivering trainings for staff working on the Ukraine response, both in Poland and Ukraine.

She has trained over 400 humanitarian staff and their local partners.

In addition to her experience in the humanitarian sector, Sophie has an academic background in international security and law, domestic terrorism, and the international political system. She is also a specialist in international humanitarian law and its applications for humanitarians.
